Joan Alice Janey was born on September 24, 1927 to the late Father Gordon Janey and the late Frederica (Lynch) Janey. Ella was the sister to the late Clara, Allan, Pastor Clayton and William Janey.
Joan was educated in the public school system and graduated from Cambridge High and Latin School. From there she attended Bryant & Stratton Business School. She worked with her sister Clara as a seamstress and was also employed by the Cambridge Hospital working in the Accounts Payable/Medical Records department until her retirement in 1988.
Joan volunteered as a foster grandparent for the Cambridge Montessori School. She not only enjoyed working with children, but also sewing and traveling.
Joan was a member of the Christian Mission Holiness Church, where she received Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She worked faithfully as the Sunday School Superintendant and for many years she sang in the church choir, and taught Sunday School. Joan was also active in the New England District of the United Pentecostal Council of the Assemblies of God, Inc. (UPCAG) by singing with the Gospel Heralds.
Joan leaves to mourn her loss: her brother, Rev. Aiden C. Janey; her sister, Winifred Sisco; her sister-in-law, Phebe Janey; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends and the Christian Mission Holiness Church family.
